In transformer, forces are produced due to the interaction of the current and the magnetic flux density. The force can have any direction in transformer. There are two types of forces in transformer.
The force that acts in the radial direction are said to be Radial forces. Radial forces are generated by the interaction of the current and the axial components of the leakage flux density. Radial forces tend to squeeze the inner winding and burst the outer winding. Radial forces in the transformer winding can be easily calculated uses the formula below:
